Area Sales Manager - ABB Facts

FACTS technology enables power system owners to increase capacity within existing power systems. As a result, greater amounts of power reach customers with minimal environmental impact and at lower investment costs. The FACTS unit in Västerås pioneered this technology, and remains the market leader in developing and selling this ground-breaking technology to customers worldwide.

In this role, you will be in direct contact with end customers, suppliers, and local ABB companies and work closely with the FACTS Service management team. You will operate in a global arena with a large number of international contacts. This position offers excellent development and career opportunities – in the domestic and international arenas. 

Tasks

The Service unit supports utility and industry customers in upgrading and servicing their FACTS equipment. It employs around 80 people globally, and maintains a high degree of customer focus based on effective communication and openness. There are a large number of FACTS applications around the world which, over time, need to be upgraded.

As Area Sales Manager, youwill be responsible for sales of applications valued at anythingfrom a hundred thousand dollars to tens of millions of dollars. You will be required to develop our customer base in your allotted markets through close communication with customers and local ABB units. 

You lead the sales teams during tenders by co-ordinating our commercial, technical and legal specialists, as well as take full responsibility for risk management processes. You will also be expected to keep market plans and market situation up to date. 

Requirements

Ideally, you hold a degree in Engineering or equivalent, and have several years’ professional experience. It is likely that you currently work in ABB, or a similar business. You have a proven track record in system sales, and you have extensive knowledge of commercial and legal terminology, as well as the power utilities sector in particular, and industry more generally. Knowledge of electrical power systems is preferred. Experience of industry or utility FACTS applications would be an advantage. 

Given this role’s international dimension, fluency in English is required. You are pro-active, and highly customer and result focused. You have excellent market and competitor awareness, and your energetic approach is matched by your ability to manage at times, a high work load.
